Project Launch
The inaugural blog post for the Taxus SSG project.
Ready, Set, Go!
Welcome to the official launch of Taxus! I'm excited to introduce this new static site generator and share the journey that brought us here. This blog will serve as a space to document the development process, share insights, and build a community around the project.
The Story Behind Taxus
Every project begins with a question. For Taxus, that question was simple: why build another static site generator when so many excellent options already exist?
The landscape includes well-established tools like Hugo, Jekyll, and Zola—each with its own strengths and dedicated communities. Yet despite their capabilities, I found myself searching for something that better matched my workflow and philosophy.
What Makes Taxus Different?
Taxus is built on a foundation of clarity and approachability:
Tera Templates: Leveraging the power and flexibility of the Tera templating engine, which will feel familiar to anyone who has worked with Jinja2 or Twig.
Yew Integration: Built-in support for Yew enables interactive components without sacrificing the simplicity of a static site.
Rust Performance: Written in Rust, Taxus benefits from memory safety, speed, and a thriving ecosystem.
Thoughtful Documentation: Documentation isn't an afterthought—it's a core feature. Every capability should be clearly explained with practical examples.
What's Next?
Taxus is still in its early stages. While it powers this very site, there's much work ahead: refining the API, expanding documentation, and gathering feedback from early adopters.
If you're curious, I invite you to explore the documentation, try it out, and share your thoughts. Building in the open means your feedback shapes what Taxus becomes.
Thank you for stopping by. Here's to the beginning of something worthwhile.
